Ecommerce audits for outdoor brands

Know what to fix before you invest in a redesign. An Outdoor Store Review gives you a practical, prioritised view of where customers may struggle and what to investigate next.

When a store review is useful

Your catalogue has grown, customers keep asking the same product questions, or your team has plenty of ideas but no agreed priority. A review helps turn those concerns into a defined piece of work. It can also give a planned redesign a clearer brief.

We focus on outdoor equipment brands and specialist retailers: camping kit, adventure equipment and campervan accessories. A useful review follows the buying decisions behind those products, rather than applying the same checklist to every store.

What we look at

The starting scope is one storefront, one primary market and up to three representative product journeys. Checkout access and platform restrictions are agreed first. A full technical SEO crawl, security audit or accessibility certification is a separate engagement.

  • Product discovery: navigation, search results, category structure and filters that reflect how people choose equipment.
  • Product understanding: comparable specifications, dimensions, suitability, compatibility and what is included.
  • Purchase confidence: availability, delivery costs, lead times, returns information and the route into checkout.
  • Mobile usability: readable detail, usable controls, variant selection and the steps between a category and the basket.
  • Technical foundations: obvious performance issues, broken journeys and search visibility problems within the agreed sample.

An action plan you can use

You receive a prioritised report, a recorded walkthrough and a 45-minute discussion. Each recommendation explains the observed problem, the affected journey, the proposed change and the evidence needed to judge it.

We separate directly observed issues from hypotheses. If analytics are available, they can help prioritise further investigation; they do not prove why a customer left. Where traffic is low, task-based usability checks may be more useful than an A/B test.

  • Fix now: clear defects or missing information with an agreed remedy.
  • Investigate next: questions that need customer feedback, data or technical access.
  • Plan separately: larger changes with dependencies, costs or migration implications.

Timing, access and cost

A review typically takes five working days once access and materials are ready. We ask for your store URL, the products or journeys that matter most, and the problems your team is seeing. Read-only analytics access is useful but optional; passwords should never be sent through the enquiry form.

We confirm a fixed scope and quote before starting. Implementation is separate, so you can decide whether to use your own team or ask Drift North to carry out a focused improvement. There is no commitment to a rebuild and no promised revenue uplift.

Questions before we start

Can you review a Shopify or Magento store?

Yes. We can review the customer-facing journey on either platform. Any code review, checkout changes or integration work is scoped around the platform and the access available.

What if we already know what is wrong?

A focused improvement may be the better starting point. Send the store URL and the specific issue so we can establish whether discovery is needed.

Let’s make the next step clear.

Tell us about your products, your current store and what needs to work better. We’ll discuss a suitable scope before you commit to paid work.
